aren't) and has a safety catch device (many don't) , it should be a pretty
safe workout.
Follow the same technique rules
when performing the smith machine squat. The effect is
derived from the fact that you are actually leaning against the bar,
thereby minimizing shear forces in the lower back. However, shear on
the knees can still be considerable.
