MACHINE SHRUG
You can shrug a lot more weight than you'll use for delt muscle movements, so
wear a weight belt. One of the benefits of doing a machine shrug is that it
puts you into the correct position and you can lift in only one angle -
straight up. Keep your body straight and resist the urge to look down,
lean or hunch over, which puts more pressure on your lower back muscle.
Do the
machine shrug under control both up and down, but don't rotate your
shoulders because that's a wasted movement in order to build the traps muscle. Go straight
up, squeeze the muscle hard (this isn't a delt movement), and lower the
weight.
