The antioxidant selenium is the most important mineral in fighting the effects of free radicals. According to some scientists, selenium can help fight cancer and heart disease, improves immunity and fights viruses.

Selenium can be taken as a food supplement together with other antioxidants or it can be taken in the form of selenium rich food, mostly Brazil nuts but also grains, radishes, mushrooms, tuna, garlic, beef, oysters and halibut.
