shows that beta carotene is an antioxidant and anti-cancer agent. Beta
carotene takes part in the fight against some types of cancer such as
lung and stomach cancer.
Beta carotene is found
in carrots, spinach, broccoli and other green vegetables, sweet
potatoes, apricots, cantaloupes, pumpkins, mangoes and tangerines. The
darker the color of the fruit or vegetable, the higher the beta carotene
content. Beta carotene is also found in calf's liver, cod liver oil,
corn, chesses and eggs.
Beta carotene
is part of a large group of nutrients called carotenoids. Research shows
that it may work better in association with other antioxidants such as
flavonoids.
