Mosquitoes can carry many serious,
sometimes deadly diseases - malaria, encephalitis, dengue fever and
yellow fever. Dengue fever (DF) or Dengue Hemorrhagic Fever (DHF) cases
have risen 20-fold since 1986.
How to Prevent Dengue ?
People can protect themselves from
mosquito bites disease such as dengue by using any of the following means :
A) Keep your environment clean to
eliminate mosquito breeding areas
Cover all water containers
Throw away or bury tin cans,
bottles, old tires and other trash that collect rain water
Replace water in flower vases and
water containers for pets regularly
Clean roof gutters to prevent
water accumulation
Keep drains and canals clean and
free flowing
B) Keep yourself protected
Use mosquito nets and screen doors
and windows
Use mosquito repellents overnight
and during hours of the day when dengue mosquitoes are active
