Physics explains that sound is caused by
vibration. When something vibrates (moves back and forth), it disturbs the
molecules in the surrounding air.
The
disturbance moves outward in waves from whatever caused it. Your ear perceives
this as sound.
When you speak, your vocal cords vibrate and
your mouth moves air around - this creates waves of sound that hit your ears.
Then your brain interprets that sound as spoken
words.
