Try to
organize your time in such a way that you can iron all your laundry or
at least a few stacks of it all at one go. This will help you to save on
your electricity bill. Heating up the iron from the cold state every
time
you want to iron just one item of laundry wasted a lot of energy.
-
After the
iron has been switched off, use the stored heat in the iron to complete
the ironing, especially light materials like the handkerchief, table
cloth etc.
-
Should you be
interrupted while you are in the middle of your ironing, make it a habit
to switch off or unplug the iron for the sake of safety as well as to
conserve energy.
-
If you are
using a steam iron, avoid overfilling the iron.
-
If the steam
spatters during ironing, place it on its heel-rest and leave it there
for a few minutes.
-
Do not use an
electric iron with a frayed cord or a damaged plug. It can be very
dangerous ! Have the cord and plug replaced at once by a competent
electrician.
-
Avoid ironing
over zippers, buttons etc. as these will scratch the soleplate of the
iron.
-
Do not use
abrasives to clean the soleplate of your iron.
