a

Sound not only travels through bone, but bones even help us hear!

Inside your ear are three tiny bones that help convert air vibrations into sounds our brain can interpret. The bones in the middle ear are called the hammer, anvil and stirrup, and they're the smallest bones in the human body!

Ultrasound waves are too high for human ears to hear, but they're used in medical equipment. Doctors use ultrasound waves passing through bone to measure bone density and detect diseases.

Sound actually travels faster through solid materials like bone or steel than it does through air.
