The BMI also known as Body Mass Index, which describes relative weight for height, is significantly correlated with total body fat content. The BMI (Body Mass Index) should be used to assess overweight and obesity and to monitor changes in body weight.

BMI (Body Mass Index)  = weight (kg) / height x height (m x m)

BMI (Body Mass Index) (kg/mē)

Underweight                   < 18.5

Normal                              18.5 - 24.9

Overweight                        25.0 - 29.9

Obesity (Class I)                 30.0 - 34.9

Obesity (Class II)                35.0 - 39.9

Extreme Obesity                  40
