Solitary
confinement would be the surest way to prevent catching a cold, but the
best you can do now is to wash your hands frequently with a disinfectant
soap - and especially before eating and after you train at the gym - if
you must be around someone suffering from a cold. Some tips to prevent
cold:
Decontaminate telephones, keyboards, counter tops and other often
touched surfaces, using disinfectants such as lysol.
If
possible, avoid touching objects that cold sufferers have touched.
Keep your
hands away from your nose to prevent "cold" viruses from searching
nasal tissues.
Be more
germ-conscious around small children, who generally suffer more
colds than adults.
Reduce
stress.
If you
catch cold, use disposable paper tissues (not a handkerchief) to
contain your own infectious mucus.
