This is an inflammation of the Achilles
tendon, the large tendon at the back of the ankle that connects the calf
muscles. It is estimated that Achilles tendinitis accounts for roughly a
tenth of all running injuries, and because blood supply to this tendon
is relatively poor, the condition takes a long time to heal.
Achilles Tendinitis symptoms : Pain of the
tendon during exercise, swelling and redness. The pain may disappear
after warm-up, but return when the exercise session is over.
Achilles Tendinitis treatment : Rest and
cold press. Wearing a heel pad to raise the heel can take some pressure
off the tendon. See a doctor, if ignored, the condition can turn chronic
and become very difficult to treat.
