Facelift (rhytidectomy) is a surgical
procedure to improve visible signs of aging, by tightening the loose
skin of the face, cheeks, and neck. As we age, the skin and muscles of
the face begin to lose tone. Although the Facelift (rhytidectomy) cannot stop the
process of aging, facelift (rhytidectomy) can improve the most visible signs by tightening
deeper structures, re-draping the skin of the face and neck, and by
removing excess fat in selected areas. Facelift (rhytidectomy) surgery will make you look
at least 10 years younger.
Usually, incisions will begin above the hairline, continuing behind the
ear to the lower scalp. You will be given local anesthesia with IV
sedation, and the office surgery is expected to last for about 2-5
hours, depending on how much is done. You may return home immediately
after the Facelift (rhytidectomy) surgery, however you will need to keep ice on your face for
the 1st day. You may wash your hair on the 2nd day. You will be given
painkillers and antibiotics for 3 days, and you will not be allowed to
smoke. You need to have follow-up consultations the next day for drain
removal, and your stitches will be removed after 1 week. You will look
beautiful again after 3-4 weeks.
However, you might experience some nerve injury and skin loss after the
Facelift (rhytidectomy) surgery. Thick scars might also be visible if you are dark-skinned. Improvement of skin laxity, skin wrinkles
and fatty deposits may also be attempted by other treatments or surgery
such as chemical face peels and liposuction. However, risks and
potential complications are associated with Facelift (rhytidectomy)
surgery and other alternative forms of
treatment.

anesthetic infiltration and i.v. sedation. Incision within the hairline
except for short distance in front of the ear within the crease line.
Operation time 2-3 hours. Rest period 2 hours, then discharged or
patient may prefer to stay 1 day in hospital. Drains removed the next
day. Time off from work: 3 weeks. Patient will look 10-15 years younger.
