Eyelid Surgery (Blepharoplasty)

Eyelid Surgery (Blepharoplasty)

Eyelid surgery (Blepharoplasty) is the most popular cosmetic surgery because the eyes are the focal point of one's face. Eyelid surgery (Blepharoplasty) is a surgical procedure to remove excess skin, muscle and fatty tissue from both the upper and lower eyelids. Eyelid surgery (Blepharoplasty) operation is performed for those who wish to have double eyelids to make their eyes look bigger, and remove unsightly eye-bags and drooping skin. It can also improve the vision of older patients who have hooding of their upper eyelids. However the eyelid surgery (Blepharoplasty) will not remove "crow's feet", wrinkles, and dark circle under the eyes or lift sagging eyebrows.

Double Eyelid Surgery

Most popular operation. Carried out under local anesthetic (like the dentist) operation time 45 minutes and rest for 15 minutes; out-patient basis. The surgical procedure on your upper eyelids will create the double eyelid effect. Your surgeon will remove the excess fat and skin, thus resulting in bigger eyes. Excess skin and fat removed and skin fold created resulting in bigger, lovelier and more lively eyes. Suggested time off: 10 days

Lower Eyelid Reduction

Done for baggy or sagging eyelids with excess skin & fat.  The surgical procedure on your lower eyelids will remove eye-bags and smoothen the eyelids. Carried out under local anesthetic (out-patient basis). Operation time 1 hour and rest for 1/2 hour. Suggested time off: 2 weeks.

You will be given local anesthesia and IV sedation before the eyelid surgery (Blepharoplasty) so that you will not feel any pain. The eyelid surgery (Blepharoplasty) should take about 1-2 hours and you may return home immediately. At home, you will need to apply cold pack over your eyelids for 24 hours. However you may shower and wash right away. You will need to have follow-up consultations with your doctor on the 3rd day and your stitches will be removed after 1 week. You should be able to return to work the next day after eyelid surgery (Blepharoplasty).

After the eyelid surgery (Blepharoplasty), you may experience some swelling in the first 2 weeks and your scar will not be noticeable after a few months. However the upper eyelid surgery might cause asymmetry, and the lower eyelids surgery might result in too much skin being removed, causing the eyelids to be pulled down.
