Societal
obsession with youth and beauty has seen a boom in medical research and
the cosmetic industry in recent decades.
Numerous
studies have demonstrated that pretty people are more well-liked and
have greater power than plain Janes. The reason is simple; beauty
pleases and appeals to the eyes and hence make people feel good.
Therefore, people tend to gravitate towards it and want to possess it.
Although inner qualities are often more important than looks, first
impression counts simply because beauty is the most immediately
available information to the outsider.
Other than
plastic (cosmetic) surgery in enhancing features and hiding flaws, there
are many other cosmetic procedures and anti-aging treatments available
for people in pursuit of youth and perfection.
